Foundation in Counselling Theory

This introductory course focuses on the theory behind different counselling approaches and can be useful for those who are interested in further counselling training but are not sure which approach is for them.  We ask why theory is relevant and examine some of the differences between various approaches such as CBT and the Person-centred Approach. We go on to focus on the the work of Carl Rogers, a major influence in the development of counselling.

We will look at how people  grow and develop, what happens when things go wrong and how counselling can help.

You will gain first hand experience of the person centred approach through groupwork and guided reading which also provides opportunities for personal development and increased self-awareness.
